Meet Our Legal Team

RINA VAN OMMEREN
Senior Associate
“I like the personal contact with clients which comes with a general practice and guiding my clients through often complex legal processes.”
Rina joined Gordon Garling Moffitt 21 years ago when she and her husband moved to Young from Sydney in 2000. She specialises in the areas of Wills, Estates, Residential and Rural Conveyancing and Family Law.
Before becoming a lawyer, Rina worked as a legal secretary in Auckland and then as a paralegal for a family lawyer in Sydney, who encouraged her to study law. Rina completed her studies through the Legal Practitioners Admission Board while continuing to work full-time.
After living and working in the hustle and bustle of Sydney for some years, the call of a ‘bush change’ was beckoning. After her admission, the time was right to make the move to Young and she and her husband now live on a small property on the outskirts of town.
Rina is the Secretary of the Rotary Club of Young and is involved in Rotary’s fundraising activities for local and international causes.
As part of her role as a lawyer, Rina believes that good communication, creative thinking and the ability to work as part of a team are essential to providing the best level of service and legal outcomes for her clients.
“What I like is that when someone comes in and they’re very worried and nervous and they have problems, and by the end they say, ‘I feel much better now’.”
Rina Van Ommeren
Outside of law and work for Rotary, Rina loves being out in her garden, growing native and succulent plants. She also enjoys growing many of her own vegies. Rina loves the opportunity on their small property to have some farm animals – as pets of course!
